Do You Need the LLC in Your Logo Design?

10 Nov

Sometimes when clients approach me for a logo design, I see that they want to include the “LLC” in the logo design. While this makes sense for some people who might want to make sure that all of their bases are covered, rest assured that you do not need the LLC in your logo design. Here are some examples of LLCs that do not use LLC in their logo design.

  • Post Foods: Post foods makes many different cereals, and all use the Post logo without the LLC. You will see the Post Foods website displays “Post Foods, LLC” at the bottom, but the LLC is not incorporated into their logo design.

  • BMW: Obviously a classy car company with a great logo design, but notice that the BMW website notes that BMW is an LLC, but their logo design does not have an LLC in it.

  • Lowe’s Home Improvement: Lowe’s is an equally common brand, and the Lowe’s webiste also reveals they are an LLC. But their logo design does not use an LLC.

The bottom line: Check with an attorney if you’re dying to know, but it’s likely that as long as you are not being deceitful, not using an LLC in your logo design will not change anything. In fact, it will make your logo a lot easier to design!
