I Wish I Could Disable Facebook’s New Photo Viewer

12 Feb

Facebook is constantly rolling out new features and “updates,” but often those changes are unwanted. The way that the photo viewer worked before was just rock solid. It was dead simple and there was nothing to change. But…

Rolling Back Facebook Changes?

If only Facebook would release new designs and features with the option to use the old version. I know they did this with the new profile pages, it was sort of an ‘opt-in’ feature, with a date of complete switch. But we should still have the option to rollback changes, right? I mean, we are all spending tons of time on there, we should be able to keep it how we like it.

I know everyone always makes fun of the folks who hate the new Facebook design, but this time, I’m on the other side. I miss the old photo viewer. Do you?

The photo viewer is THE worst change facebook has ever implemented. If you hate it as much as I do go tell the developers how you feel! https://www.facebook.com/Engineering

If you don’t like the Facebook Big-Black-Screen when clicking a friend’s photo, you can get the old interface back.

Go to the address bar. You’ll see something like :
    http: …blah.blahblah&theater

Position the cursor at the end of the line and remove the “&theater” and hit enter. You should see it the old way( until FB changes it).

You will need to do this each time you click someones photo.

I don’t like it either . but instead of removing “&theater” I just hold the Ctrl button and click on the picture, it will open it in a new window and it’s in the old Facebook style .

if you right click on the thumbnail of a photo in a album on facebook and open it in a new tab, it will show up in the old album format for that tab instead of the new viewer. also this makes editing photos and albums easier and you can move them from one album to another easier too. hope that helps
