MORFINT logo design

The MORFINT logo combines text and a simple clip art tree into a one color enclosure logo. I suppose I should clarify that MORFINT, as far as I know, is a completely fictional company. I made it up to be able to showcase a different style of logo. I have noticed several logos that combine simple lines into something that translates. Some also use a break in one word to add interest.

MORFINT still does not reach exactly the simplicity I am thinking of, but it remains somewhere in between. The simplicity could not be more obvious. The letters are situated to the left but centered with a single line dividing them. The letters are large block style with the distorted missing pieces in them, which contrasts the simplicity of the lines around them.

Another advantage is that the logo can translate into any color and can be used on any type of print medium, shirts for instance, or business cards. It would probably also work as a vehicle decal, either a bumper sticker or work vehicle side panel magnet.

The downside is that the logo sits flat on the page. In order to make it stand out, usually digitally, the logo would need to include some dimension. Appearing so flat is not the worst thing, however, it just means that the things around it must be better tailored to let the logo fit in. One technique with a simple logo is to float it on top of a complex background as if it is screen-printed on or something.

Another major factor would be in determining what MORFINT is. As a fictional company, creating a logo first seems entirely existential. Knowing what the company really does and how they would like to be perceived can be some of the most important aspects of designing a logo that works. Not only does it give you a starting place, but it is very influential in determining a main color or several main colors as well as the overall feel of the logo, either clean or distorted, or any variation of that.
