Top 3 college subdomain website designs
28 Feb
Often college and universities must tailor their main site to alumni and older staff that are not interested in web standards or current design. Either from neglect or outdated design tastes, the front page often ends up looking a bit dry and corporate. On the subdomains, however, designers have a chance to show off and really offer something interesting. Here are the top 3 subdomain website designs I’ve found recently:
1. University of Texas Admissions: This site is just great. It’s big, it’s gridded, it’s got a clear color scheme and it’s uses colors and images and text together for a great effect. Great site.
2. Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Virginia: This site uses muted colors, large gridded boxes to separate information, and a largely flat feel that makes it easy to use and fun to look at. Great design, fits an earthy feel but can also be taken seriously.

Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Virginia: great example of a well designed university website.
3. Office of Communications at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston: Great site, very similar to the UT admissions site. Big, gridded, great colors, etc. Great university website design, glad to see these universities adopting a clean, new look online.

Very very very interesting tips!! Well done!
I have got what i have been searching for some long time..Thank you very much its really going to help me.
Thanks for noticing, Nate! We’re doing our best to improve, one site at a time.
